Wednesday June 4th, 2003 was a momentous day for Liverpool. Winning European Capital of Culture means the city can look forward to a better future. In 2008, the world will see a new Liverpool elegant, creative and fresh. A confident, prosperous, inclusive city. We will encompass the County of Merseyside together with the boroughs of Halton, Ellesmere Port and Neston. The area has long and distinguished links to the world of science and technology.
