Rockets into space
The Mars team
The Mars team is a group who enthusiasts who have worked together to develop rockets since 1991. The aim is to show that a group of amateurs with a tiny budget can put a rocket into space.
MARS is, at any one time, involved in four distinct projects that will eventually come together in a successful space launch.
Guidance
The guidance projects are developing active flight control which will control the rockets so that they can fly straight up.
Propulsion
The propulsion projects are developing new rocket motors.
Phobos
The Phobos project is based on off-the-shelf rocket engines which allow the members of the team to get experience of flights to high altitudes while they are developing their own more powerful engines.
Deimos
The Deimos project is based on a series of amateur rockets powered by hybrid engines of increasing size and power. This will lead directly to a rocket able to journey into space.
