A rice revolution on the banks of the Thames
Tilda Ltd
A company which began packing rice and pulses in Harrow has grown over 30 years into an international food brand.
It is hard to relate the huge silos lined up alongside the north bank of the Thames with the packets of rice in a supermarket.
The size of Europe's largest rice mill is an indication of the scale of operations needed to supply the needs of millions of people.
Research and development is important to the food industry. Tilda is one of the companies that has applied food science to develop rice products that appeal to people today.
