Where Queen Victoria admired the view
Wharncliffe Viaduct
The story goes that Queen Victoria so much enjoyed the view that she had her train stopped on Brunel's spectacular viaduct over the river Brent.
The viaduct was named after Lord Wharncliffe who steered the Great Western Railway bill through the House of Lords. The viaduct carries the mainline railway from Paddington.
Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed the viaduct which was completed in 1838.
