Museum makeover now complete
Dorman Museum

The Dorman Museum has recently re-opened after a ??3million refit with new 'Earth in Space' and 'H2O' galleries

It has been 3 years in the making but finally, on March 1st 2003, the Dorman Museum re-opened its doors. As well as housing an exhibition on the history of Middlesbrough there are two new science-based galleries.

'Earth in Space' looks at how the universe was formed, as well as exploring how rocks and fossils tell us about the history of the earth. There is even the tale of a meteorite which landed near Middlesbrough in the 19th century.

The young (and young at heart) will enjoy the interactive 'H2O' gallery. With a decidedly watery theme the exhibits include a ship-loading challenge and microsopes with marine mini-beasts to look at.

And the best thing about the Dorman Museum is that it is open 6 days a week (closed Monday) and entry is free!
