Innovative urban regeneration
CEME – Centre for Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence

The CEME building is innovative in itself and surrounded by other symbols of technology including wind turbines and power lines. The aim of the centre is to promote achieve sustainable urban regeneration.

One of the activities of CEME is to support new technology companies and to help them grow and develop.
 
The team at CEME also offers specialist services to advise manufacturing, engineering and/or technology businesses
 
CEME is a centre for training to increase the skills of people living in the area.
 
CEME and renewable technologies
CEME aims to demonstrate the importance of developing sustainable energy supplies. It has installed photovoltaic panels on the roof which can generate 190 kW at their peak. The array of panels is one of the larger solar power arrays in the UK.
 
The target is to use renewables to generate around 25% of CEME's annual energy requirements.
