Gateway to the fast route south
Piccadilly Station
Trains are now running faster between Manchester and London than they have for years thanks to the new Pendolino trains.
A long history of modernisation
The station where the new trains arrive has a long history. Known as London Road Station from 1842 until it was rebuilt in 1960, the station has recently been refurbished and gained better connections with the rest of the city thanks to Metrolink.
The decorative cast iron columns in the main shed date back to an earlier rebuilding in 1880s.
