A-mazing Alnwick
The Alnwick Garden

Visit the magnificent Gardens at Alnwick Castle and see the the newest features being built and opened. In all there are 4 new attractions at the Gardens which are due to be opened in the autumn including the Labyrinth, the Tree House and the Poison and Serpent Gardens.

Date: 30 September 2004 to 31 December 2004

Venue: Denwick Lane
Alnwick

The labyrinth has been created by the famous maze-designer Adrian Fisher and is made of bamboo which will move and rustle above visitors heads as they try to find there way around and out of the maze. It is due to be opened on 30 September.

Alnwick Garden Tree House One of the most exciting and innovative projects is the Tree House, with buildings, including a restaurant and party room, linked by suspended walkways. This venue can be hired for parties and meetings and is due to open in the Autumn.

For all budding Harry Potters, the Poison Garden is the place to find out about some of the most deadly plants in the world, including belladonna and tobacco plants, and how they can be used to kill and cure. Some of the more dangerous plants will be kept behind bars and all plants will be labelled to make visitors aware of their dangers.

The Serpent Garden is made up of water sculptures placed around a 'serpent' made of holly and each sculpture will demonstrate the different ways water looks and moves. The sculptures include Starburst, where water shoots up at a glass platform that visitors can walk over, and Water Windows, two unbroken membranes of falling water in a circle that you can enter.
