Mars Quest

A new exhibition has landed at Newcastle's Life Science Centre. Coming direct from America, the NASA backed Mars Quest exhibit will give space enthusiasts an opportunity to explore the Red Planet and learn all about our neighbour in space.

Date: 18 June 2005 to 15 December 2005

Venue: Life Science Centre
Times Square
Newcastle-upon-Tyne

The exhibit provides many hands on activities such as commanding an exploration rover over Mars to examine its landscape, from massive volcanoes to vast canyons and ancient flood plains. A full scale model of one of the Martian Exploration Rover vehicles, on loan from the US Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is also available for visitors to look around.

Visitors are also able to examine Martian rocks, learn about it's ever changing climate and have a go at making dust devils and sand storms like those that shape the Martian landscape. Meanwhile the new science show in the Life Theatre will give an insight into life in outer space and NASA's latest discoveries about the planet.
