Wildbunch Conservation Volunteers
Tees Valley Wildlife Trust
Got a spare few hours and fancy getting your hands dirty in the name of conservation? Tees Valley Wildlife Trust's Wildbunch is a practical conservation volunteer group who carry out vital conservation work in the local area. Everyone is welcome and the group meets on wednesdays (unless otherwise stated) behind the Talpore near the White Water Course at 1.15pm.
1st March Reed Clearance & planting on Portrack Marsh
Slap on the waders and jump into Willow Pond to clear out Typhia growing there, and while where at it we can plant a loose hedgerow and some tree blocks.
8th March Clearance Work, Middlesbrough
Working to clear back some vegetation in Middlesbrough to open up sight lines and make people feel more secure.
15th March Footpath Work either Portrack or Cowpen
Finishing off either of these footpath jobs, if we have done them then there will be a bench to install on the Portrack PROW
18th March 2006 Weekenders: Island Clearance
This task will involve water and a boat, and is to clean up the existing islands to encourage the Common Terns to nest.
22nd March Wolviston, Various
Returning to Wolviston Wildlife area to complete the access ramp, install log seats, some grassland management work and maybe some wetland planting
29th March Boardwalk @ Cowpen Bewley
Returning to Cowpen to construct a new section of boardwalk to improve access across the site.
12h April Scrub Clearance, Cowpen Marsh
Working to remove some Hawthorn Scrub from Cowpen Marsh
Remember to bring warm clothing and waterproofs, and a warm drink may be useful too!
