Seeking Scientists with a Story
Poetry & Science

Can you mix science with poetry? Is there any common ground between the two? Can science be explained through poetry? Can scientists write poetry and can poets write about science?

These are all questions that Newcastle??s Literary & Philosophical Society (the Lit. & Phil.) hopes to answer with the help of regional scientists and poets, culminating in an event on National Poetry Day, the 6th October 2005.

With the support of the Poetry Society, and sponsorship from the Arts Council and the Northumbria Branch of the British Association, the Lit. & Phil. will bring together poets and scientists to work creatively on various areas of scientific interest, looking at what they might hold for the future. The result will be debate, new writing - and hopefully, a thought-provoking and entertaining project.
