Experiments in new naturalism
The Garden House
The gardeners at the Garden House are learning from nature to invent a new approach to gardening. Matt Bishop, the new head gardener, is now carrying forward the experiments begun by Keith Wiley.
Plants are encouraged to grow as they would in the wild.
The gardeners create meadows of flowers rather than straight borders and regimented beds.
Here you will find one of the most exciting walled gardens in the world.
The garden may aim for naturalism but there are plants from all over the world with 6000 different varieties to be seen. The natural is cunningly contrived.
